Get GE’s Literacy & Numeracy Screening Done For Your Child

$247

Are you concerned your kid(s) are struggling with an undiagnosed Learning Disability?

The evidence from millions of dollars spent on intervention research is clear that the most successful interventions include some form of screening and progress monitoring for the students.

This Literacy and Numeracy Screening is the starting point for working with Dr. Garforth as an interventionist. It allows her to get a current snapshot of where your child is and allows her to make informed decisions on where to start with an intervention. As your child makes their way through their intervention, she will continue to collect data to make sure your child is making adequate progress towards their learning goals.

Dr. Kathryn Garforth works with your child using both online and in-person (can be on screen) measurements to gain an understanding of your child’s literacy and numeracy needs.

From the information she collects, she will provide a written summary of their current skills levels and include suggestions for the steps she recommends you take to support your child’s education.

Once the report is ready, you will get an invitation for a 30 minute virtual meeting with Dr. Kathryn Garforth.

During this time, she will discuss her findings and recommendations with you.

You will get a report on…

  • How your child is doing/where they are at now!
  • Where they need support!
  • If you should pursue further assessment for diagnosis! (ie.Psych-Ed)

You will also get…

  • Answers to your concerns with recommendations for next steps from an experienced, informed literacy professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Literacy & Numeracy Screening?

This screening is a snapshot of your child’s current abilities in reading, spelling and math. It identifies areas your child may need additional support in order to be considered ‘on grade level’ for these skills.

How can this help my child?

The results from this screening will allow you to get an idea of the exact skill areas your child currently needs support in to ‘catch-up’ to their peers.

These results can be shared with your child’s school and any additional educators supporting them.

How do I know if my child needs a Psych-Ed Assessment?

Once Dr. Kathryn Garforth has worked with your child and reviewed the data she has collected from working with them, she will be able to recommend whether or not she feels a Psych-Ed Assessment is necessary.

If she does make this recommendation, she will provide the data collected to be used as supporting evidence for the assessment

To do this, you will have to fill out the appropriate paperwork providing your consent to release this information.

If desired. Dr. Garforth will be available to employ for helping guideing your family through navigating the supports needed with your childs learning profile.

Can I get an IEP for my child with this screening?

No, this screening alone will not be enough to qualify your child for an IEP.

However, Dr. Garforth can provide you with insight as to the next steps you should take.

Is there any intervention you can provide my child with these results?

Dr. Garforth has limited spots for her customized intervention plans where she helps you step by step in supporting your child through an intervention.

This is not a traditional tutoring program but a hybrid of working online with Dr. Garforth and you (or another tutor) facilitating the program.

It includes progress monitoring and the program will adjust to your child’s needs based on their progress with the program.
